Members of the EuBC were invited to a talk by Professor Klaus Töpfer on Climate Change and Global Challenges. Professor Töpfer served as former German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety as well as former Federal Minister for Regional Planning, Civil Engineering and Urban Development. In 1998 he was appointed Under Secretary General of the United Nations, General Director of the United Nations office in Nairobi and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Currently, Professor Töpfer is the founding director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam/Germany.
